The airport of Ohrid (St. Paul the Apostle) is small and easy to use and is only 10 km from the city centre. Beyond customs, the combined arrival and departure hall has ATMs, a currency exchange office and a small café.

Skopje Airport is located east of the capital. The airport is easily accessible by car via the A1/E75 motorway. The airport has a modern terminal consisting of two floors. On the ground floor you will find the check-in desks on the right and the arrivals hall on the left. The departure hall is located on the first floor of the terminal. Skopje Airport has 11 boarding gates, five (101 - 105) on the ground floor and six (201 - 206) on the first floor with avionics.

Since 2012 it is possible to travel with a shuttle bus between the airport and the centre of Skopje. You pay for a single trip 180 MKD (3€) and a return trip 360 MKD (6€).

Going to town

If you have arranged a hire car on arrival, the cars and car rental offices are located in the airport car park.

With a hired car you can explore the country at your own pace. Please note that the roads in the interior are often not in top condition and nevertheless tolls are levied in many places. 

How much does a taxi cost to and from Skopje and Ohrid?
There are fixed rates for taxis at Skopje Airport. A taxi ride to the centre of Skopje will cost at least 1,220 MKD (€ 20), a taxi ride to Ohrid will cost 6,000 MKD (€ 97.50). Only licensed taxis are available at the airport, recognizable by their white colour and a number on the side of the car.

By Bus

Buses come from various international destinations, including Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia. There are also bus connections to other cities in Macedonia such as Skopje, Bitola, Kichevo, Tetovo, Gostivar ezv. The bus station is newly built just outside the center of Ohrid. In the ticket office you can get information about destinations and prices. Here you can pay in cash, maestro or with mastercard.

You can take the bus at some places along the street Turistička , on the other side of the green market or the street Jane Sandanski (closest to the old town).

By car

Als u naar het Meer van Ohrid wilt, dan kunt u het beste via de snelweg A2/E65 reizen. De afstand van Skopje Airport naar Ohrid is 202 kilometer, de reistijd is 2 uur en 45 minuten. De wegen zijn deels snelweg, deels lage snelheidswegen door de bergen. Op het snelweggedeelte moet je tol betalen, dat is ongeveer 250den in totaal (ongeveer 6 €). U kunt contant betalen (MKD of euro's), maestro of creditcard.

Het is ook relatief eenvoudig om Ohrid te bereiken vanuit Albanië. Er zijn 2 grensovergangen. Een daarvan is in de buurt van het klooster van St. Naum en de andere in de buurt van Struga.

Autorijden vanuit Griekenland via Bitola is ook relatief eenvoudig
